I forgot to make a vegetable.

I made chicken stock today out of two chicken carcasses that I had left in the freezer.

Rouladen mit Rothkohl und Kartoffeln

The old standby, but they have to cook for 90 minutes and that's too long for a weekday.

Und dann ist noch genug für zwei Bentoboxen übriggeblieben.

Bratkartoffeln

I'm usually buying small potatoes. These were pre-boiled and then fried in butter. A little bit fried bacon on the side and then eggs fried in the same pan.

Chicken and yellow rice

This is a quick dinner. I always make yellow rice in the microwave. It tasts just fine and according to what I have read there is no issue with it. It is in fact a gentler way of cooking than on a flame.

The chicken is fried in a pan and after both are done I stir it together. I'm working hard on my non-existing presentation skills.

Homemade Linguini

I made these with the manual pasta machine. My dough was still sticky when I tried it for the first time (even though the directions were clear about that). I think it might have to do with the size of the eggs. Everything is bigger in Texas :), so I should have used half the number. In the end I had to separate the linguini by hand and throw them one by one into the boiling water. It is a very forgiving way of cooking. They all came out allright.

Chicken soup and cantaloupe for dessert

The cantaloupe was fun. I had a melon baller for a while, but I had never used it. It was quick and tasted very nice.

Alaska

Alaska 1 is a cold dinner. Nothing wrong with that. German Vollkornbrot from ALDI with homemade Tsatsiki, then bruschetta and a salad.

I'm working really hard on my presentation! :)

Kohlpudding with an extra layer of black eyed peas

I think this looks fantastic! It's a geology cake - layer on layer. I should have pre-cooked the black eyed peas though. Well, next year. :)

December

Whole boneless chicken with onions, and carrots on the grill

This is an old picture. I'm proud of the invention. Deboning a chicken is not that hard and then I replaced the bones with veggetables.

2022

<2022-02-03 Thu> ======== Thu Feb 03 11:54:47 Central Standard Time 2022 The chocken stock yesterday was great. Tastes much finer than store bought stock. Also much more satifying to make a meal oompleately from beginning to end by material I have butchered or made like the stock.

<2022-01-17 Mon> ======== Mon Jan 17 16:40:59 Central Standard Time 2022

I have completely forgotten what I wanted to write.

Footnotes:

1

Alaska was the nickname for any cold dinner in the (German) Navy. Usually BMW (Brot mit Wurst). :)
